Week 2 Recap for the Chain Gang

So with a target on their back after a strong start in week 1 of the ABHL, the Chain Gang was set to prove themselves. Questions arose about whether they'd be able to keep the undefeated streak alive without two players nursing injuries. Im sure everyone thought the answer to this question was NO. For everyone except the Chain Gang. The gang has only been together for a total of 2 games prior to wk 2, but somehow they already became a tight knit group. They proved the depth of the team with two more wins, extending the ABHL record 4 game win streak.

GAME 1 vs SHOCKERS
with an earlier start than usual, the ABHL kicked off last Saturday at 10am est time. Fresh off a 0-2 week the Shockers called their team together for a pregame huddle. They knew they wanted a structured gameplan and were excited to have their starting goalie, Hoac Tang back from his personal leave. While they had a spirited pregame talk, it was obvious the shockers left their thunder at home. The Chain Gang took this game early on and strangled the life out of their opponents. With many grinder type goals the CG cruised to its largest victory of the season by a final score of 9-2. I am sure this was a rare occurance for a talented Shockers team. Many individual records were broken in this game as Jason Lee notched an astounding 5 points followed by a pair of 4 point games by Kelly Pham and Bryan Lee.
Nuff said Chain Gang wins and improves their record 3-0.

GAME 2 vs FLYING TIGERS
one thing to note that during this impressive run the Chain Gang has yet to play a back to back game. The Chain Gang has been a huge beneficiary of lucky scheduling thus far. This game vs the tigers was no different as the Tigers just came off a tough loss vs the already angry Shockers. With the Shockers notching their first win of the season, the only winless team left was the Tigers. To no surprise the tigers came out flying took a 1-0 lead on Bernie Chu's shot. Bernie showed great leadership and heart as with a partially sprained knee he played in week 2. Bryan Lee was able to answer as he tied it up 1-1, but for the first time the CG was trailing at the half. The Tigers lead 2-1 after an amazing display of hard work by FT forward Gene Carandang. This was an all out defensive war with both goalies making save after save. Sub Clarence Chai fed a beautiful pass to a streaking David Luong for the game tying goal. This set the stage for one of the most exciting moments in the early ABHL season. It came down to the last seconds, as the timer was counting down 5, 4, 3....(CG Dman Ricky Gregorio tees up a point blast, with Danh Le trying to block it), 2, 1 the ball bulges the twine before time ticks to zero. The CG had pulled out the most thrilling victory of the season. The tigers arguably outplayed the gang, but the end out come was a 3-2 defeat.

Although the CG is sitting at 4-0, rumors continue to swirl as they reach the roof of the salary cap. With no room to breath what will the CG GM do to comply with league rules.....?
stay tuned till next week.
