ABHL PLAYER NOTES continuous - Page 3 Empty Felix Cheng - Thursday, April 28, 2011

Post  ROTOWORLD Thu Apr 28, 2011 12:33 pm

Newly acquired CG forward Felix Cheng will be missing Saturdays tilts do to personal reasons. Although these personal reasons are not fully approved by team policy players are free to do what they wish. Already missing Ricky Gregorio and Kelly Pham, the CG will definitely be hurt by the short bench. After finally losing a game in wk 3, this week will truly test the grit and heart of the Chain Gang. Hopefully they can avoid a losing week as they face the suddenly favored Cash Only group and the always tough Roosters.

ABHL PLAYER NOTES continuous - Page 3 Empty Dave Luong - Thursday, April 28, 2011

Post  ROTOWORLD Thu Apr 28, 2011 12:52 pm

Consistency, effort, heart, determination and a willingness to learn are all words that describe Dave Luong after the first 3 weeks of the ABHL. After putting his time and showing how dedicated he was to the Chain Gang, forward Dave Luong will be missing the CG’s games on Saturday due to personal reasons. Similar to Felix Cheng this personal leave is not fully approved by the team. Known to all the CG GM Felix Wong is all about dedication. This personal leave seemingly do not coincide well with the Chain Gang’s philosophy, so the question may be asked….is there trouble brewing among the once dominant gang? Felix Wong has shown before he isn’t afraid to pull the trigger. Stay tuned to this developing situation.

ABHL PLAYER NOTES continuous - Page 3 Empty Paolo Jimenez - Thursday, April 28, 2011

Post  ROTOWORLD Thu Apr 28, 2011 12:56 pm

Seems like all the talk this week is about the CG missing players. With 4 team members missing, Felix Wong has no choice but to make call ups for the team. Week 4 will have the debut of Paolo Jimenez. Not only will he bring a much needed set of legs, but Paolo has experience playing for Edmonton Hospital Rec Nights and is touted to be a very gifted offensive player. With dirty dangles and an offensive touch Paolo is looking for a full time gig in the bigs. He’ll get a chance to display what he brings Saturday, and knows it’s his an opportunity to make a name for himself. ABHL GM’s tune in to the Paolo Show starting 940am Boys & Girls Club McCauley.

ABHL PLAYER NOTES continuous - Page 3 Empty Winslow Tang - Thursday, April 28, 2011

Post  ROTOWORLD Thu Apr 28, 2011 4:28 pm

So after much concern that the Roosters would be missing their top two players. The fear has subsided as leader Winslow Tang appears be to healing well from his hamstring pull. He has missed the last Spartans game, but has declared himself ready for Saturday. A sigh of relief for all you “cock” fans out there. It’ll be a heated battle for sure versus the Chain Gang, as it’s the first time they’ve met. The Roosters first match up will be against the Chain Gang whom they are 0-1 against. Winslow notched a hat trick in a losing cause vs Cash Only. He’ll try to right that result this weekend. Also wonder if Cash Only will come out that much harder as it was during these two teams last matchup that their leader Ryan Ho went down to injury. Will be a great opening to ABHL 4!

ABHL PLAYER NOTES continuous - Page 3 Empty Dave Luong - Saturday, April 30th, 2011

Post  ROTOWORLD Sun May 01, 2011 12:50 am

After not suiting up in wk 4 former chain gang memeber has now joined the roosters organization. A great salary move for the roosters, but they also get a good hardworking player. It seemed as though Luong was a great fit early on, but it looks as if the Chain Gang has moved in a new direction. The deal itself was Kevin Tai for Dave Luong. It is a deal that works for both sides. The Chain Gang wishes Dave Luong all the best of luck with his new team.

ABHL PLAYER NOTES continuous - Page 3 Empty Kevin Tai - Saturday, April 30, 2011

Post  ROTOWORLD Sun May 01, 2011 1:05 am

Speedy forward Kevin Tai has been dealt to the Chain Gang. Fresh off two wins he is sad to be leaving his mates, but looks forward to a new start with the first place team. Roosters GM is saddened to part with Kevin but its a business with a salary cap in place. Kevin Tai has been a very pleasant surprise thus far and the Chain Gang hopes he continues his excellent production.

ABHL PLAYER NOTES continuous - Page 3 Empty Roosters - Sunday, May 1, 2011

Post  ROTOWORLD Sun May 01, 2011 7:20 pm

Fresh off a 2-0 week, the Roosters continued the strengthening of their team by adding star forward Stanley Chan and Steve Lai. In a intricate deal the Roosters also sent their 2nd and 5th round picks (2012) to the Shockers for their 3rd and 4th round picks (2012). In a behind the scenes interview Stan Chan had this to say “ it’s always a shock(no pun intended I’m sure) to hear your name in a trade, but at the same time it’s a business aspect of the league. It’s tough to leave the team that drafted you as we were a close knit group. Its extremely exciting to move on to a new team.” The Roosters acquire a solid two way player in Stan and should compliment the style of their team quite well. Steve has yet to really break out of his shell in the ABHL, he is still getting used to the close quarters and fast paced game. Time will tell if he can contribute to this already strong team.

ABHL PLAYER NOTES continuous - Page 3 Empty Shockers - Sunday, May 1, 2011

Post  ROTOWORLD Sun May 01, 2011 7:22 pm

Sitting at the bottom of the ABHL standings, Shockers GM stepped up to the plate and made a huge dabble in the trade world. Hon sent his 3rd and 4th round picks to the Roosters and upgraded to acquire an ever important 2nd round pick added with a 5th round pick. Not only did he improve his 2012 draft status, but he acquired underrated, and fiercely intense forward Ryan Tong and consistent forward James Fong. Ryan Tong will bring an intensity to the Shockers that might just be able to right the ship sailing south. ABHL reporters were able to get a brief word with Ryan and this is what he had to say “I’ll miss my rooster teammates, they were good guys to go to war with. But Im excited to have a chance to paly for A GM like Hon Yee. I think he has a good vision of where he wants this team to go, and I look forward to Shocking the rest of the ABHL by bringing the thunder.” Clearly excited this will be a interesting look for Hon and his Shockers come week 5.

ABHL PLAYER NOTES continuous - Page 3 Empty Jimmy Phung - Tuesday, May 3, 2011

Post  ROTOWORLD Tue May 03, 2011 9:48 am

It looks as though Cash Only has parted ways with jimmy phung. Cash only has indeed bought out the contract of jimmy and released the non committal forward. After making his debut in week 1 the ABHL never saw the player again. This actually works out as the move saves cash only approximately 800k in cap space and with a rumored return of their leader Ryan Ho it could be a blessing in disguise. Hopefully its not too late for the struggling Cash Only squad to turn it around as they are 0-4-1 in their last five games.

ABHL PLAYER NOTES continuous - Page 3 Empty Ricky Gregorio - Tuesday, May 3, 2011

Post  ROTOWORLD Tue May 03, 2011 2:10 pm

It looks the chain gang will be in more hurt for weeks to come. Stud dman Ricky Gregorio blocked a shot during his ice hockey game. The xrays came back negative but his thumb is incredibly swollen and has no movement. The chain gang already realised how much they missed his services in wk4. Hopefully the injury isn't serious and he won't be lost for the season. Chain gang fans hold ur breath as this could be a deadly blow to their championship expectations.

ABHL PLAYER NOTES continuous - Page 3 Empty Shockers - Monday, May 9, 2011

Post  ROTOWORLD Mon May 09, 2011 7:19 pm

The shockers have sent forward Wilson Le, Hoac Tang and their 2012 6th round draft pick to SHJB for Dan Sune, Sonny Nguyen & their 2012 5th round draft pick.
The shockers are still making wholesale changes. After completing the biggest deal in ABHL history Shockers GM Hon Yee shored up his goaltending by acquiring Dan Sune. Dan brings a veteran presence in net and will attempt to help the new look Shockers get back to winning. With arguably two of the most talented players in the ABHL, Sonny Nguyen will be a dependable player who will bring his experience from his Vancouver ball hky leagues. In addition to addressing his goal keeper needs Hon adds a 5th round pick which may prove to be a bigger factor than at the time being. I as a fan of the ABHL am excited to see what this new team brings as it begins its climb from the ABHL basement.

ABHL PLAYER NOTES continuous - Page 3 Empty SHJB - Monday, May 9, 2011

Post  ROTOWORLD Mon May 09, 2011 7:21 pm

SHJB has acquired forward Wilson Le, Hoac Tang and the Shockers 2012 6th round draft pick for Dan Sune, Sonny Nguyen & their 2012 5th round draft pick.
The slammer hammer jammer bammers have officially solidified their forward/defense lineup. They truly bring forth the deepest lineup in the ABHL. The addition of the relatively unknown Wilson Le will only help the offensive juggernaut we’ve come to known and appreciate. While Hoac Tang has been struggling to start the season with the highest GAA in the league, he brings a large upside that SHJB Daniel Mah is hoping shines through. Hoac has been capable of getting hot and taking his team deep in playoffs. The SHJB GM clearly rolled the dice hoping it pays off. Before acquiring their new goalie Hoac was asked if he had what it takes to win in the playoffs. Hoac’s answer was a confident “yes, I will be back in HCUP form by then.” Hoac also did say it was quite a surprise, but he feels the fresh start will be exactly what the Doctor ordered.
It will be an exciting week 5 of the ABHL with these two teams already facing off.

ABHL PLAYER NOTES continuous - Page 3 Empty Paolo Jimenez - Friday, May 13, 2011

Post  ROTOWORLD Fri May 13, 2011 2:31 pm

It looks like the Roosters will have to wait till wk 6 to see its newly signed free agent in action. Paolo  will not be suiting up for the Roosters due to Personal Reasons.
This was a concern surrounding the talented forward prior to his signing. Other GM’s were aware of his previous commitments, but I guess the upside was too much to pass on.The new look Roosters will rely heavily on new forwards Stanley Chan and David Luong to carry the momentum that this team built from week 4.

ABHL PLAYER NOTES continuous - Page 3 Empty Ricky Gregorio - Friday, May 13, 2011

Post  ROTOWORLD Fri May 13, 2011 2:36 pm

It looks like Ricky Gregorio hand injury was less severe than expected. This is great news for the Chain gang as they get their big defenceman back in the lineup for week 5.
He was sorely missed in the thrashing that the Roosters laid. With him back guarding the blue line and protecting the front for Nick Yatco, look for a solid week from the ABHL’s 1st place team.

ABHL PLAYER NOTES continuous - Page 3 Empty Dan Sune - Friday, May 13, 2011

Post  ROTOWORLD Fri May 13, 2011 2:45 pm

Newly acquired Shockers goalie Dan Sune will be MIA again this week. Dan will be out of action due to personal reasons and wont be able to make his debut for the revamped Shockers squad. One wonders if this inconsistency and independability was part of the reason SHJB GM Daniel Mah traded him away. Hopefully Dan will be able to bring his skills to the forefront as the Shockers went on a limb to acquire this veteran goalie. Hoac Tang’s performance in week 5 will go a long ways in determining who truly won this deal.

ABHL PLAYER NOTES continuous - Page 3 Empty David Luong - Monday, May 16, 2011

Post  ROTOWORLD Mon May 16, 2011 7:12 pm

While making his roosters debut, David suffered a sprained ankle during week 5. An unfortunate situation, but definetly accidently. He slipped on a players stick and injured his ankle. Hopefully this isn't anything too serious, but Dave is missing his spartans game tonight as a result. The ABHL wishes him a speedy recovery and that it is nothing serious.

ABHL PLAYER NOTES continuous - Page 3 Empty John Vu - Tuesday, May 17, 2011

Post  ROTOWORLD Wed May 18, 2011 1:21 am

It looks as though the tigers have suffered a serious blow to their team. John Vu may have suffered a lower body injury during his Suspects ball hockey game. While the extent of the injury is unknown. Vu was unable to finish the game and a substitute had to be found. Witnesses say it did not look right and looked like a kne injury. Sad news for John Vu and his Tiger mates. We all hope nothing is serious and he'll make the recovery.

ABHL PLAYER NOTES continuous - Page 3 Empty Kelly Pham - Thursday, May 19, 2011

Post  ROTOWORLD Thu May 19, 2011 5:17 pm

Kelly Pham has just learnt that he’s been dealt to the Roosters. While John Lu is often out in left field it seems like he was rather accurate on this one. Goes to show you just never know whats going to happen in the ABHL. Kelly was taken back by the deal, but truly understands it’s a business and nothing personal with friend and GM Felix Wong. Kelly would’ve gladly been true to the Chain Gang Blue if he had the choice. He is a underrated hardworking player that will add to any squad. An interesting sub plot with this trade development is that Kelly was originally a Rooster back in the days of the HCUP tournament.  He won the championship in that tournament wearing the black of the Roosters. Now united with close friends Joseph Florendo and David Nguyen, it’ll be an interesting feel good story to follow for the rest of the season.

ABHL PLAYER NOTES continuous - Page 3 Empty Winslow Tang - Thursday, May 19, 2011

Post  ROTOWORLD Thu May 19, 2011 5:26 pm

Winslow Tang has been acquired by the Chain Gang in a massive deal that saw two of the highest paid stars get swapped for each other. While the Chain Gang is clearly saddened to see its first round pick go, they welcome Winslow Tang with open arms. “Dub” is amongst the league leaders in scoring 21points in 10 games is a amazing season for any player in the ABHL. Winslow shouldn’t have any issues fitting right in with long time friend Gary Wong and constant teammate Felix Wong. Felix and Winslow have won championships together before and look to do it again here in the first season of the ABHL. The fierce competitive Dub will only add to a strong Chain Gang team. Fans don’t have to wait long for Roosters and Chain Gang to square off as this heavyweight tilt is set for week 6.

ABHL PLAYER NOTES continuous - Page 3 Empty Ricky Gregorio - Thursday, May 19, 2011

Post  ROTOWORLD Thu May 19, 2011 5:33 pm

Ricky Gregorio has indeed been traded to the 3rd place Roosters. Talk about making waves here. The highly touted defenseman just came off a player of the week 1st star. I guess that’s how the business works, one second tight with your teammates the next second on a new team donning new  colours. Ricky posted his biggest week of the ABHL yet notching 7 pts. While the 7 pts is massive, its what he brings on the D side of things that are enticing and salivating to every GM out there. He covers a lot of space and just brings a shutdown mentality. Itll be an interesting story to see how he helps his new keeper David Nguyen for the rest of the season.

ABHL PLAYER NOTES continuous - Page 3 Empty Howard Tsang - Thursday, May 19, 2011

Post  ROTOWORLD Thu May 19, 2011 5:47 pm

The roosters have sent hardnosed forward howard tsang to the chain gang. While not a whole lot is known about this player he should get a lot more exposure joining the #1 ranked team in week 6. What we know is howard is intense and brings an edge when suiting up for whatever team he plays for. Trash talking sacrificing his body doing whatever it takes to win. Howard is most famous for his " I'm like gravy gonna smother you" line. See how he does in a new environment with new teammates.

Fresh off a player of the week nominee Cash Only's Richard Tang will be missing in action for week 6 of the abhl. When his team needs him the most Dick will be unavailable due to personal reasons. This is unofrtunate as the fan favorite and hard working dick was rounding into form to become a constant producer. Hope his team cash only fairs well in this weeks crucial set of games.

ABHL PLAYER NOTES continuous - Page 3 Empty Jason Lee - Tuesday, May 24, 2011

Post  ROTOWORLD Tue May 24, 2011 1:48 pm

It seems cash only is making a lot of headlines lately although the last few havent been good news leading scorer Jason Lee will be missing wk 6 missing back to back weeks is huge for a team that is lacking scoring. also during the final playoff stretch run this is a huge blow to cash only. hopefully gm ryan ho will be able to pull some strings to find some players for this team . rumour has it that if cash only is unable to win this week then they will go fully into rebuild mode and officially call it a season. I as a cash only fan am hoping they make it work somehow this week.

Looks like the roosters newly acquired forward will be missing wk 6 of the abhl. It seems as though his minor ankle sprain is not as minor as originally expected. The hard nosed forward has missed various spartans and essc games as a result of the lower body injury. Hopefully he will be back in time as the roosters gear up for their playoff run. Also this wouldve been his first crack at his old chain gang teammates.

ABHL PLAYER NOTES continuous - Page 3 Empty Eric Dang - Friday - May 27, 2011

Post  ROTOWORLD Fri May 27, 2011 12:20 pm

Everyone take care of your ankles! Eric Dang is the latest victim to succumb to the common lower body injury. Eric suffered the injury during his Autobots Ball Hockey Edmonton game.
While the severity is unknown these things can take time to heal from. Rushing back from it is not recommended, during a crucial week in the playoff run the Shockers will be without the services of Eric. It is unfortunate as Eric was showing signs last week notching his first multi goal game of the season. Eric joins David Luong and Felix Wong on the latest list of ankle sprains. Hopefully he’ll be back in action come playoff time or earlier.
